Lighting of the Advent Candle
Lighting of the Advent Candle: Preparing for Christmas
November 29, December 6, 13, and 20, 2026 | During 10:00 am Worship
Celebrate the season of Advent with First Presbyterian Church of Austin as we prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus. During worship on each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, a family group will light an Advent candle, marking our journey toward December 25.
Each candle represents one of the central themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. As the candles are lit week by week, we remember God’s promises, reflect on the meaning of Christ’s coming, and make space for wonder and anticipation in the midst of a busy holiday season.
This meaningful tradition invites people of all ages to pause, reflect, and prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. Whether Advent is a familiar tradition for you or a new way to experience the season, you’re welcome to join us.
Join First Presbyterian Church of Austin for Sunday worship at 10:00 am as we light the Advent candles together. All are welcome, and you can also participate by watching our worship livestream.
